Video Games vs. Other Entertainment
« on: November 08, 2009, 06:06:52 AM »
Turn the clocks back 15 years or so, and its pretty obvious which form of entertainment was the most dominant. Television and Movies, followed by Books and Radio. These were the most common form of down time entertainment all over the world, captivating the attention of its audiences and giving them a thrilling experience.

Now Video Games are stepping up to the plate of being able to provide the high impact, hard hitting, epic entertainment that is breaking more boundaries with every release. With the more boundaries they break, and the more limits they push -- it makes the more traditional forms of entertainment seem more mediocre.

What are your thoughts?
Do you still think that traditional forms of entertainment can provide the entertainment and the experience as often as a video game?

Hmmm..

Television and movies are nice, and they can entertain, but I think it's the interacting aspect of video games that makes it so enjoyable. That you're able to control what the person does, and in some games, the outcome of that specific game by the choices you make, example: KOTOR.

In a movie, maybe you don't like where the plot is going, or you don't like the ending, but in many games these days, there are multiple endings, so that's why I enjoy video games more.

Lost is still awesome though :d.
